Modest Clothing: As time allows I (Tsipporah) hope to post more pictures of modest women's garments. You can see from the pictures that we are all unique in are clothing choice, yet we embrace modesty.  I have found it to be very important to have patience one with another when it comes to modesty.  I have been led of the Holy Spirit for the last 15 years to be dressing modestly.  I have seen women struggle with trying to find & make clothes that are both modest, comfortable and practical.  I was very encouraged at a gathering of believers last spring.  There were various types of modest clothing there.  Mennonite-type, Amish-type, Virgina homesteader type and more.  The Brother at the gathering gave a sermon that strengthened what I already believed.  He drew a circle on the chalk board that represented biblical truth and standards.  He made little dots inside the circle that represented individual believers or groups.  He pointed out that God made us all unique for a reason, and as long as we are within the circle we should not be fussing over each others differences and dividing from one another.  If some people feel modest always wearing black that's okay, as long as they are covered & behaving modestly.  It can take some women more time than others to die to their pride and desires to be outwardly attractive.  Some women are able to make the change outwardly, yet inwardly pride still rests in their hearts.  I believe it is very important for us all to be zealously seeking the Holy One to be holy even as He is holy.  We are to be holy in all manner of conduct.  Some one can be dressed very modestly yet still hold vain, foolish and carnal attitudes.  I believe modesty is a working of the Holy Ghost that will be seen in the lives of those who earnestly seek Him and desire to please Him above all.  As a community we all have had personal convictions to be modest, yet we are all coming from different life experiences so we vary slightly in our outward appearance.

sister's comments coming soon...

Sewing Projects:
Little Abigail in a wagon with her brothers.  She is wearing a sister-made pleated dress. It was very plain & simple to make with a zipper in the back.

The long green linen sister's shirt was also simple to make. The neck is square & finished off with a facing. I then inserted a pleated square sewn down only at the bottom of the square and up one side. The other side is held closed by two sew-on snaps.

Little Malie is here in her nice modest jumper made by her mother.

How Shall We Be Clothed - This is a writting from sister Tsipporah about her testimony of dressing more modestly and a plea for women to consider the way they dress.

  2. what a great post, while i am by no standard even dress closely as you do, i am encouraged by your wisdom. You seem to get what most people do not, got made us different for a reason, there is no cookie cutter shape on what color, shape or specific cloth choices that make a particular dress modest. Modesty is much more than the clothes we wear, its a heart issue, you can be covered up all you want but if you walk around cussing every step you take, nobody will take you seriously. I can see how some groups like the Amish do set specific rules for clothing, but i rather follow your approach to work together in the circle of sisters. I rather had someone in love telling me that my skirt might gotten a little tight or short, than having someone telling me, because of their rules how long, what color etc my clothing should be. Love is a much greater motivator than constant rules
